Okay so I've been a Twilight girl since the beginning and I FINALLY made the trip out to Forks, and I'm still not over it. This is everything I wish I'd had before we left. Every address, what to order, where to stay, what's worth it and what to skip.

Most of Twilight wasn't filmed in Washington.
The school. The Cullen house. The diner where Charlie and Bella eat. The PROM. All of it is Oregon, and most of it sits within a couple hours of Portland.
I know. My jaw dropped too when I started looking it up. And it sounds like it should be disappointing but it's the coolest thing, because it means there are two completely separate Twilight trips and nobody tells you that.
There's the Oregon one, where the movie was made. And there's the Washington one, where the book lives. Forks is real. La Push is real. The town Stephenie Meyer picked off a map and never visited before she wrote it is a real logging town of about 3,500 people that gets more rain than almost anywhere in the lower 48.
There are also two Swan Houses, and this is the part people get wrong constantly. The one from the movie is a 1930s farmhouse in St. Helens, Oregon. The book one is a 1905 farmhouse in the actual town of Forks that Forks officially named the real Swan House in 2006, before the first movie ever came out.
You can stay in that one. We did. Chapter 5 is entirely about it.
We stayed in the Swan House
There's the trip. And then there's the Swan House. I'm telling you with my whole chest, everything else on this trip is incredible and this is still the highlight.
Something happens when you walk in that door. It stops being a tour and starts being a thing that's happening to you. The sunny yellow kitchen. Charlie's recliner. Bella's room upstairs with the purple bedding and the string lights and the dreamcatcher and that window looking out at the trees. Three themed bedrooms plus a den, sleeps eight.

I had the score spinning in that living room while rain hit the windows and I started crying a little. I'm telling you so you're ready.
In the books, one of the first things Bella does after she gets to Forks is make steak and potatoes for Charlie. So you stop at Forks Outfitters on the way in, you buy a ribeye and potatoes and butter at the same store Bella would have used, and you cook it in that yellow kitchen on that stove and you sit down and eat it together. I made that dinner in that kitchen and I'm STILL not over it. It tasted so much better than it had any right to.
Then there's the waffle bar in the morning. The WAFFLE bar. You wake up, it's probably still raining because it's Forks, the forest is right there, and you make waffles in your pajamas with nowhere to be until noon. That's the morning you'll try to recreate at home forever and never quite get, because your kitchen is the wrong color and it isn't raining right and it isn't Forks.

Two ways to do this trip
The places are gorgeous no matter how deep your Twilight knowledge goes. La Push will take your breath whether you know who Jacob Black is or not. But who's in the car changes everything about how you'd plan it, so Chapter 9 is two guides in one.
Your people, the ones who read these books with you
The house sleeps eight, so bring the ones who saw the midnight showing and had the posters and were Team Edward or Team Jacob and never fully switched. Trivia gets competitive. Movie night gets emotional. Somebody's crying at the New Moon forest scene and everybody's pretending they didn't almost cry too.
Assign rooms on purpose. Make the steak dinner a group job. Let the house be the destination and not just where you sleep.

Because the trip underneath the Twilight of it is just a really good Pacific Northwest trip. Sea stacks and rainforest and a two lane road along the water. The kids get the beaches and the tide pools, you get the yellow kitchen, everybody gets the drive.
The Wolf Den has trundle beds for whoever's lowest on the totem pole (or the kids, haha).

Do I need the Pacific Northwest guide too?

Is this worth it if I'm not a huge Twilight person?

You can, and you should, and you need to book way earlier than you think. Chapter 5 has where to book it and everything to do once you're in it.
When's the best time to go?
